Belmont Personal Injury Lawyers
Belmont is a suburban town in Middlesex County located west of Boston. It was founded in 1859 when citizens of Watertown, Waltham, Arlington, and West Cambridge (eventually Arlington) joined together in an effort to form their own town. John Perkins Cushing, one of the strongest advocates for the new town agreed to donate significant funds on the condition that the town is named after his 200 acre estate known as “Bellmont”. In 1880, the eastern section of the town was annexed by Cambridge following a dispute over a slaughterhouse and its effects on Cambridge’s drinking water along Fresh Pond. Though Belmont was originally made up of a significant portion of farmland, this community has essentially disappeared as an influx of writers, doctors, and scientists moved to the town in the early 1900’s. Today, Belmont encompasses 4.7 square miles of land and has a population of 24,729 (based off of the 2010 census). It is sometimes referred to as “The Town of Homes” because it is made up almost entirely of residential areas, and is best known for its neighborhood filled with mansions in Belmont Hill.
The Belmont personal injury attorneys at Bellotti Law Group, P.C. have decades of experience representing clients in need of legal assistance or require professional legal advice. Our practice reaches Belmont, as well as many other cities and towns in the greater Boston area. Some of our most common cases include personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, defective product liability, car accidents, bike accidents, and pedestrian accidents. Our lawyers understand ways in which an injury can significantly impair certain aspects of your life. When others are negligent or act in a reckless manner, you may be entitled to a variety of damages to compensate for medical expenses, pain and suffering, property damage, lost wages, and future opportunity loss. Our valuation for your personal injury claim is based on years of experience, and to prove the value of your case, we consult experts in the field (psychologists, doctors, accountants, etc.) to provide the evidence needed at trial.
One type of personal injury claim that we handle is product liability. All products come with a guarantee from the manufacturer that they will be safe if used in the manner that was intended and all known hidden dangers must be clearly expressed. Defective products come from many different areas of commerce, such as pharmaceuticals, transportation, toys, medical devices, or industrial products. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, only 200 to 300 products are recalled each year despite the fact that roughly 29 million injuries and 22,000 deaths occur annually in the United States due to defective products. The 2010 U.S. Tort Liability Index ranked Massachusetts fifth in the country for fewest monetary losses from products liability lawsuits. Delaware had the fewest total losses and South Carolina had the most.
